There may have been some drawbacks or difficulties experienced during this group activity. When using literature circles in my traditional classroom, students would often skim over chapters to identify their specific responsibilities as dictated by their role sheet. This would lead to a lack of overall comprehension about the book. I wanted to devise a way to ensure that students performed the required reading without skipping over details. By expecting specific assignments to be completed using a multimodal platform gave me confidence that students would read the entire book or risk being ostracized during the live video chat or message board discussions. One goal of this lesson was to identify student perceptions about this type of learning, which I can elaborate on after reviewing the evaluation questions.
